31(Review)(Halloween #3)[Terrifying Theatrical Tuesday]

After Rob Zombie announced he was working on yet another original project, people were eager to find out what exactly he had planned. 31 was a movie that promised a return to form, similar to House of 1000 Corpses and Devil's Rejects. What we got was something that could have had more potential yet due to cuts and such, it was not as we all imagined.

The premise of 31 is a group of people are kidnapped and forced into the ultimate game of life or death. For the next 12 hours they must face an onslaught of maniac clowns, each more crueler and sadistic. The final challenge is against the most sadistic of them all known as Doom Head.

This movie was going to be rated NC 17, which forced Zombie to make cuts just for it to get released. It is easy to see why, as the movie is his goofiest yet. It is as brutal as the clowns themselves, and makes no apologies for the scenes the audience is subjected to. As far as the game itself, there really is no explanation as to why the lives of the kidnapped group are at stake and what the end result is supposed to be. The movie ends on an ambiguous note with no clarity on who the winner will be.

Sheri Moon Zombie makes her return in a starring role, and this is another one of her roles that leaves a lot to be desired. Going to avoid spoilers here, but once it becomes clear what her fate is, you find it hard to really be invested in her role as you already know her outcome anyway. Which makes the ending even more contentious as you want to see it all play out on the screen, but that pleasure of seeing it is stolen from you

If you are a fan of Rob Zombie's theatrical work, I recommend at least checking it out. Maybe someday we will get to see an unrated version as it was meant to be seen.

If you seen it , what did you think of 31? Do you think that it could have had more potential? Feel free to weigh in below!!!

Till next time, stay scared -Tha Thrilla-
