This is a visually weird movie that has a lot to say. It is about a psychologist who decides to go through sensory deprivation while experimenting with hallucinogens, and the results are pretty much what you would expect with a side of what in the even?
You get to experience his trips first hand as he sees visions of seven-eyed goats, all kinds of religious iconery, and phantasmagoric imagery. But the trips are just one aspect of his experiment as he finds himself devolving as well. All his fellow doctors try to help to get him to stop, and even his wife is not enough to get him to see reason. In fact, his marriage falls apart as a result of his obsession. He can't bring himself to stop, he won't stop as he is that addicted to his experiences.
This movie is definitely a case of seeking knowledge, but having too much knowledge comes with a price. The psychologist nearly loses himself, but ultimately in the end, it is his wife that saves him from himself. A pretty weird film, but very worth seeing.
