Bones(Review)[Twisted Throwback Thursday]

Bones is a decent urban horror film, even though it really gets silly towards the end. It was kind of disappointing because the film plays serious and has some nightmarish qualities, until I guess they felt they needed to lighten up the mood a bit, but the movie was so good as it was, so when you go from that to trying to throw in a silly element, it is just really jarring.

So the movie stars Snoop Dogg, and he plays the titular character known as Jimmy Bones, who was the protector of his neighborhood, and one day he is betrayed by those closest to him, and is killed. But his spirit remains vigilant until the time come where he can be resurrected and take his revenge.

There are times the movie really has a nightmarish quality to it, especially as Bones starts to make his way back into the world. This is where the movie succeeds the best. as it plays as a straight up horror film. You might get a little chuckle at first when you see the particular spirit form Bones takes in order to help resurrect himself fully. There are scenes that get gooey, and bloody as heck, and I hope you like maggots, because there are maggots a plenty. But it is once Bones is resurrected and starts taking his revenge, the movie takes a left turn, and gets goofy. I really don't understand the reasoning, like I don't mind a little dark humor, but it just seemed so out of place here.

Anyway, I would say check it out as it is a really decent horror film, and it presented a world I definitely would have loved to see more of. Even the ending teased there could be more to come, but probably at this point, it won't happen. Go in with an open mind, and like me, I am sure you will find something to enjoy regardless.
