Cabin Fever(2002)(Review)(Splattery September #2)[Terrifying Theatrical Tuesday]
Cabin Fever is a movie that starts off well enough until devolving into skin crawling terror. This was Eli Roth's very first horror film, and was responsible for putting him on the map as one of the prestige horror directors.
The movie is about a group of teens who are vacationing at the titular cabin who come in contact with a flesh eating bacteria. It's when the infection sets in that the movie really starts getting to its more gruesome aspect. You actually see the effects of the disease as it ravages the bodies of the teens. The most unsettling scene, and one that makes my skin crawl, is the bath tub scene. You know the one I am talking about, as it's included in the previews. Yeah, that one.
There are a few other memorable scenes as well, such as the off the wall segment that features the kid who shouts "Pancakes", does spontaneous karate moves and bites into hand of one of the teens. It's not explained why he does it, but the bad news is that the teen was infected so now the kid has it. This is just an example of how random the movie is at times. It definitely makes it a fun viewing. And the ending....wow...that ending. Let's just say I cannot put into words just how grim the ending is.
If you haven't Cabin Fever yet, definitely check it out, just make sure to watch the 2002 version. For reasons I can't fathom, they decided to remake this movie in 2016. It's the same exact plot and everything, but I prefer the original. If you have seen Cabin Fever, feel free to leave your thoughts below!!
