The third season of Creepshow was the most creative season we seen to date. It really went for the nostalgia factor in some of the episodes, and ended in the biggest way possible. This is a series that continues to grow and improve, and hopefully will continue on. Here is a brief summary of what happened this season.
The series began with the standard affair of a little boy who suffers the abuse of his father, and the father getting his comeuppance in the end. It wouldn't be so bad if this wasn't the third time we seen the series begin with this scenario. If there is a 4th season, I like to see it begin with something a bit different. The first segment wasn't so bad however, with the second segment teaching a lesson of the consequences of invading someone's privacy.
The second episode has an entry that was fun as it was full of horror movie references, and even had a bit of love letter to George Romero. There is a scene that will remind you a little of Army of Darkness even. This put a smile on my face even though the ending was a bit weird. The third episode had some pretty good entries including an episode that will make arachnophobes run for cover.
The fourth episode started with an entry that I felt was it's weakest of the whole series, like I felt it was kinda pointless. But it made up for it in the second story which was essentially about the horrors of Covid 19. Pandemic horrors is something we are starting to see more of, and I am all for it. The fifth episode starts with the series most solemn entry yet. It's about time, and using the time we have wisely. This entry was scary for whole different reasons and it really sat with me after viewing it. The second segment went back to the animation route, which helped it have more of a gore factor.
The final episode of Season 3 ended up being the strongest episode of the season. They saved the best for last with the first segment giving us a monster we haven't seen before. The second segment is black and white, which really sets in once you realize where this is all taking place. I will give you a hint, it involves zombies.
In all, there was more good than bad, and Creepshow continues to stretch it wings as to what it can accomplish. It isn't afraid to go back to its roots, and use that to its advantage. It even found a clever way to tackle current issues to the point it didn't feel like it was beating us over the head with them. Time will tell if Creepshow will be renewed for a Season 4, all I know is I am not ready to part ways quite yet, and look forward to what it can accomplish in the future. All seasons of Creepshow are available on Shudder, and if you haven't done so, you need to check them out. Horror fans will have a blast, and will definitely geek out a few times when watching the third season. If you already seen Season 3, feel free to leave your thoughts below!
