Draug(Review)[Terrifying Theatrical Tuesday]
Draug is a Swedish horror film about a woman named Nanna who is on her first mission along with a band of warriors to track a missionary who went missing. She finds herself returning back to her homeland, and encountering something ancient and evil.
For those unfamiliar, Draug is the Norse version of the living dead, thought they are far from your average zombie. These guys make zombies look like a picnic as they do more than just stumble around looking for human flesh to consume. Also as is normal in the Norse faith, there is a lesson being bestowed within the film. The lesson here is try as you might, you cannot kill that which cannot be killed.
This is a period piece during the height where those of the Norse faith were facing conversion, and Nanna is right in the thick of it. There are some heavy revelations when it comes to her and it ends up being connected to the draug. Being that this film is Swedish, it gets pretty intense when it comes to both the supernatural and natural threats. And the ending will simply take your breath away.
For those who want something different as well as a perspective on different cultures and their view of the supernatural, I would definitely recommend checking this movie out. It's available on Amazon Prime, and even though it's Swedish, you do have subtitles to help you understand what is going on. If you already seen Draug, feel free to leave your thoughts below!!
