This album just exemplifies Halloween. I remember my first time encountering Hellbilly Deluxe, how it was responsible for me becoming a fan of Rob Zombie and his previous musical career as White Zombie. This is a man with a deep love of horror, and he has no qualms about singing his praises literally. His songs are packed with references to horror movies of past present and future as well as other horror pop culture.
This album was the start of his solo career and was packaged in a way that referenced horror comic anthologies such as Tales From the Crypt. From start to finish, this entire album is nothing short than phenomenal. It is also something you will never got tired of listening to. I will go on record in saying this is truly Rob Zombie's best musical work, and nothing he has created before or since Hillbilly Deluxe has come close to matching the magic he created here. Not even when he tried recreating the magic with a sequel album Hellbilly Deluxe 2, which was good but not as fantastic as the first album.
I'm sure everyone like me breaks this out to listen to many times, especially during Halloween. It would be hard for me to even imagine anyone who has not heard this album by now as it is just that impactful and influential, but if you are one of those rare people who haven't heard this yet, please do yourself a favor and educate yourself on this delightful treat.
Till next time, Happy Halloween, and stay scared!! -Tha Thrilla-
