His House(Review)[Terrifying Theatrical Tuesday]
Sometimes you may find yourself in a terrible situation, desperate to escape it, only to find yourself in a different terrible situation. That is the plight our characters find themselves in His House.
The plot is about a refugee couple who escape war torn South Sudan, and seek asylum in Britain. They are offered a chance to stay in a house, but their past haunts them the minute they decide to do so.
This is a movie that you have to pay close attention to as much of the scares are happening in the background. It's not what you see that frightens you, it is what you barely see that does the trick. Another aspect is as one of the characters mention a line about how your ghosts chase you. There's a specific reason why the haunting are happening. Most movies about ghosts or demons, the entities are either doing with a past history of the house or something along those lines. That isn't the case here. There is a mythology based on the consequences of your own actions, and try as you might, your evils come to roost eventually in the end.
This movie has a high popularity on Netflix for a reason, and it is very intelligent with what it is doing. The scares are very celebral, and the creature design is something only nightmares can produce. I do highly recommend because it is a palate cleanser, especially after my slight disappointment over Conjuring 3. If you already seen His House, feel free to leave your thoughts below!!
