John Harrison - "Day of the Dead" OST Review[Musical Mondays]

I have spoken about John Harrison on here before with his score for “Creepshow”, and I once again wish to spotlight the man. This time for his contribution to George A. Romero’s “Day of the Dead.”

In my opinion, the music helps blend this movie into the masterpiece that it is. It’s a rock-opera of synthesizers that go back and forth from a heavy breakdown to a slow ballad. For a film that is mostly contained underground and away from the light of day, the music needed to create the extra breathing room that the visuals don’t provide.

It’s equal parts catchy and equal parts hypnotic, but has a lot of beautiful moments that in my opinion make this album one you can listen to even when you’re not watching the movie.
