Rich people are not like the rest of us. They have traditions and morals that most of us would probably never understand. ‘Ready or Not’ is a fun movie that is about exactly that.
Grace (Samara Weaver) is marrying into a higher class family. They love her and on the surface everything seems good. But the family is rich because their family specializes in family board games. And they have a tradition that whenever someone tries to join the family, they must all play a game together. There’s lots of options like Chess and Old Maid, but there’s also an option or two that are not so friendly. Grace pulls the ‘Hide & Seek’ card, and therefore a large game of cat and mouse begins – but this one is for keeps. The family is hellbent on hunting her down by any means necessary before dawn.
This film was an absolute blast. It had a really great rhythm to it, the characters are entertaining, and it is very violent. I walked into this one thinking it would be pretty good, and I was happily more impressed than I had anticipated. It may sound like the typical kind of “Most Dangerous Game” derivative that we see everywhere now a days, but this plays by its own rules. If you think you know what’s going on, you should probably give it a watch and find out, because there is a lot of gears making this family heirloom run. It’s well worth a try, and in my opinion, it’s one you can view on repeat.
