Siren(Review)[Terrifying Theatrical Tuesday]
I started watching this film, not expecting much, and I actually got more than I bargained for, especially when it revealed its connection to another film, but more on that later.
Siren is about a group of guys who are together at a bachelor party, and of course, dudes being dudes, they go to a strip club. It ends up being a complete dump, and they are seeking something a little more exciting for the groomsman. A stranger leads them to an experience that is in the middle of nowhere with promises of desires beyond their wildest dreams. But they come to find out the price is too high especially when one of the women is not who she seems.
It is really interesting how they set the mood as it goes from lighthearted fun to stark terror once it starts going south. And boy does it go south in a hurry. There is a saying of curiosity killing the cat, well that is definitely the case in this movie. And just when you think you seen enough, that is when the movie drops it reveal that is connected to another film. Maybe you remember an anthology called V/H/S(which I am sure one of us will end up reviewing that in a future entry to come), but Siren actually connects and expands on one of the segments from that anthology. I actually exclaimed "Wait a minute!!" when the connection was revealed, and after the movie, I researched to verify, and yes it actually was meant to happen that way
I hope you aren't bothered by debauchery and gore, as this movie contains a good bit of it. It is really interesting as yes there is nudity, but the Siren herself is more so alluded nudity. Like they portray her in a way, where she is naked most of the movie, but you dont see like any details of her body. And her demon form is really cool on the design, and it is really different on how they presented it.
This movie is currently available on Netflix, so yes, definitely go check it out! You will be glad you did. And if you haven't yet, or maybe you have, but afterwards it might interest you to watch V/H/S to understand the secret connection. Sorry, my lips are sealed on that.
If you seen or see Siren, feel free to weigh in below!!
