The Darkness(Review)[Terrifying Theatrical Tuesday]
This is a movie that isn't necessarily that scary, but I still found entertaining to watch. So the premise of this film is a family takes a vacation to the Grand Canyon with their autistic son. While there, he explores a nearby cave and stumbles on rocks with mysterious symbols. He takes them, and returns home, his family unaware of what he has done. When they return home, they start to experience strange events centered around their son, and find themselves targeted by forces beyond their comprehension
The family itself is not perfect by any means, so you can almost forgive them for being sort of ignorant to what is happening. The husband had an affair, the teenage daughter is bulimic, and the mother is more focused on her autistic son than anyone else is her family. She is the first to realize something is not completely right since returning from their vacation, yet she refuses to accept the unreal. As I mentioned before, there are very little scary moments in this movie, maybe toward the end, there are some that might make you jump, but that is about it. It is fascinating as you get to learn things about the threat against the family. The autistic son ends up being the catalyst of what happens to them, and he may be the only one who can stop it as it is explained in the movie about seeing differently
I would say if you are interested enough, and looking for something to entertain yourself with, then can't hurt to check it out. It's not something I would rush out to add to my movie collection or have a repeat viewing. If you seen The Darkness, feel free to leave your thoughts below!!
