The Houses October Built(Review)(Halloween #2)[Terrifying Theatrical Tuesday]
This is one of those found footage horror films, which you can take them or leave them, but every now and then, one pops up that tries to do something different. After the success of Paranormal Activity, it was like every one was trying to cash in on the found footage style of horror. This was one of those movies that was released during that time, and was it different enough to have its own identity? I would mostly say yes.
So the premise is five friends go in search of the scariest haunted house attractions during the Halloween season. However what they are looking for ends up finding them. At first they think everything is staged and they don't take it seriously, but soon find out the scares are very real. It is one of those be careful what you wish for as you might just find it situations
The movie does a good job of building up the atmosphere, especially when the shit starts hitting the fan. It is one of those where you have to pay attention to what is happening and the found footage aspect shows enough to give you an idea that there is definitely something off about the situation that the five friends. And as expected. there are scary clowns. And a woman who dresses up like a human porcelain doll for some reason
The movie ends in a way you expect, and it was enough to create a sequel. It is one of those I recommend seeing at least once or twice as some things wont make sense the first time around.
So what are your thoughts on the found footage style of horror? Do you think it still holds up? What was your favorite found footage style horror movie? Feel free to weigh in below!!
