VFW(Review)[Terrifying Theatrical Tuesday]

This is a movie I went into with zero expectations and it still managed to blow my expectations away. It harkens back to the Grindhouse Era films from the 70s and 80s and gives you something fresh and exciting. I never expected to like this film as much as I did, but definitely will be a worthy addition to my collection.

The premise is about a society ravaged by a drug epidemic and we see a girl steal drugs, and run into a local VFW post for protection. Her and the veterans manning the post find themselves in a battle for their lives against drugged out punks who will stop at nothing to get their precious cargo back.

Stephen Lang's character was my most favorite in the film. He seems to find himself in military/former military roles often, and he plays well as the hardass soldier who just won't quit. We seem him sink to the depths of despair but once properly motivated, watch out. The punks find out they bit off more than they can chew. Blood and gore flows aplenty as both sides face casualties. When it comes to the final battle we are subjected to a grisly scene that almost rivals the final scenes in Dead Alive. Almost.

Definitely check this one as I feel most horror fans and gorehounds especially will find a lot to like about the film. It's available on Shudder or you can pick it up on DVD. If you already seen VFW, leave us your thoughts below!!
