Viral(Review)[Terrifying Theatrical Tuesday]
Somehow this got missed during the quarantine themed month, so consider this like a bonus track or an additional scene. Viral is a movie that is very relatable to what we are facing with the current pandemic, except it takes it to the very extreme. Instead of facing a deadly virus, the characters find themselves under quarantine due to parasitic worms that infect their host and turn them into feeding machines. The worms replicate themselves so quickly that the only solution the government had is to call it all a wash and firebomb everything. Two sisters are trying to survive during all this, and things become even more complicated when one of them becomes infected.
The movie starts out fun and lighthearted before quickly becoming a grim and tense affair. And even when the quarantine is established, we see the characters break it, and they quickly pay the consequences of doing so. Sound pretty familiar to anyone? The scenes involving the worms are as gross as you can imagine, especially the ways they control their host bodies.
The movie is a pretty entertaining to watch, and features Machine Gun Kelly in a supporting role. His role was very much just like Machine Gun Kelly except in the middle of an apocalypse. He makes a decision that costs him however which doesn't happen until near the end of the movie. The ending plays out as you would expect but it does give a sense of hope before fading to black.
Definitely check this out if you are curious enough, it is currently streaming for free on Tubi. If you seen Viral, feel free to leave your thoughts below!
