So one thing I noticed right away is going into this movie, it's not doing anything differently than the first one. It's like an extension of the first movie. It still has the same schtick as the first movie. It is enjoyable. It will make you laugh. But it's essentially the same formula.
Our survivors from the first film are still adjusting to the post zombie apocalyptic world, but when one of them goes missing, they go off on a journey to find her. New players enter the game, as well as a deadlier type of zombie.
To show off that is exactly the same as the first film, we start off with a slow-mo video of the group killing off zombies, this time with Metallica's "Master of Puppets" accompanying it. We still are shown the Rules. Tallahassee is still a hard ass just like he was in the first film. Literally everything is just the same as it was before. Even when they introduce the new characters, it's really of no consequence as they are mainly there to either just be killed or just add romantic tension.
But it is still enjoyable. The humorous moments still hit it out of the park. This movie is just as gory as the first one, so it is definitely not for the squeamish. Columbus is still so damn annoying to the point you want him to die yet he is so endearing at the same time. The addition of the new zombies are pretty cool with what they did with them.
And they even brought Bill Murray in an post credits scene that is worth watching the movie for in itself. It like the producers were like yeah I know we made you watch a rehashed movie, so we will give you this as a reward. Oh my, what an reward it is. It earned plenty of laughs as well as my praise.
If you liked Zombieland, then you will enjoy Zombieland: Double Tap. I say check it out, and it definitely deserves shelf space for any collectors. If you seen this movie, feel free to weigh in with your thoughts below!
